Focus on... The acquisition of Berlecon by PAC
Headquartered in France, Pierre Audoin Consultant (PAC), the market research and strategic consulting firm that focuses on the Software and IT Services Industry (SITSI), recently announced that the company is penetrating deeper into the German-speaking market via the acquisition of Berlecon Research.
PAC and Berlecon have worked closely together since 2009 and analysts and consultants from both organisations will now work even closer together to deliver market analysis and consulting projects. By doing this PAC hopes to expand its position in the German-speaking market and, thus, the delivery of its software and IT services' insights, especially in the field of communication, collaboration, and mobility.
Headed by Berlecon's former Managing Director, Nicole Dufft, Berlecon will operate as a PAC business unit based in Berlin. Nicole Dufft will report to Frédéric Munch, Managing Director of PAC Germany.
"With this acquisition, PAC has strengthened its presence in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, thus gaining a leading edge over competitors in the analyst and consulting market - the majority of which are Anglo-Saxon", says Frédéric Munch.
To bolster this move, PAC has expanded its senior management team internationally. New appointments include Dr Katharina Grimme, Director Outsourcing & Business Process Outsourcing (BPO), based in Germany; Philip Carnelley, Research Director, software and application services markets, PAC UK; Scott Tiazkun, joining the PAC US team; and Franck Nassah, based at PAC in France.

Frédéric Munch has a point. Whilst there are a number of analyst companies - Forrester; Frost & Sullivan; Gartner; and IDC - that have a presence in France, Germany and the UK and employ people that are natives of these countries and / or are bi- or multi-lingual, these companies are all US-headquartered. In contrast, PAC and Berlecon are headquarted in France and Germany respectively and have a policy of recruiting people who are well respected and accomplished natives. Thus PAC and Berlecon are perceived as valuable regional players, whose people can provide a deep insight into a country's culture and technology-related trends.
